Madison Moser

My name is Madison Moser, I’m 14 years old and I am an athlete.
Most would expect me to next say that I play soccer or volleyball or another
traditional sport. But I am a dancer.
Yes, dance is an art form, a truly beautiful one indeed but most people do not understand the intensity of a dancer lifestyle, my lifestyle. You need pounds of physical and mental
stamina, strength, endurance, flexibility and so much more. I dedicate my life to this craft but along with that I’ve welcomed this athletic commitment with open arms.
Plenty of extra effort outside rehearsal time must be put in to maintain the fitness level needed. As well diet is incredibly important to dancers and to me. This means a lot of the time sacrificing your french fries for a salad.
Out in the grueling world of professional dancing and even now there is a lot of rejection and criticism being thrown at you so you must be not only physically strong but mentally as well. Meditation and music are the tools I use to keep my spiritual being in sound but sometimes it’s even okay just to cry it out.
Dancers are some of the most physically healthy, mentally durable, spiritually open and overall most capable people I’ve ever met. So it’s a good idea to throw out your assumptions about prissy ballerinas because I as a dancer am not only an athlete and an artist, but I am tough, determined, powerful, impactful, intelligent, brave, creative, persistent, motivated, passionate, fast and female.
