Fast and Female Power Hour

What is a Fast and Female Power Hour?

Power Hours are 1-2 hour fun-filled, non-competitive events for girls that connect participants with inspiring female athlete role models and equip them with empowering skills for sports and life. There are three parts to the event:

  1. Introduction to Ambassadors and F&F’s Mission, Vision, and goals for the day

  2. Empowering Power Hour workshop

  3. Inspiring Chat and Q&A with Ambassadors

A Power Hour Is For Your Girls If:

  • You/your organization want to foster a FUN sport environment that promotes social belonging, mind-body health, and female role models.

  • Empowering curriculum, confidence-boosting tools, leadership skills and team-building activities are what you’re looking for.

  • You/your organization see the value in girls meeting and connecting with inspiring female athlete role models in a casual and impactful setting.

  • Team-building is what you’re looking for. Your team wants an extra boost of inspiration and mental/emotional skills to help raise your game or get your team working together. Power Hours are a great option for after practice, during a tournament, or to kick off/end an awesome season.

  • You/your organization are looking for a shorter, more workshop-focused alternative to our 3-4 hour Champ Chat events.

Target Audience:

8-18 year olds with curriculum developed for each age range.

Ticket Price:

100 complimentary tickets provided with the funding of each Power Hour

Sometimes you wonder if you’ve made an impact, but with this event there was no doubt in my mind that we changed the perception of leadership for every single girl who attended. Every girl raised her hand at the end of the event when we asked “do you see yourself as a leader

Power Hour FAQ

We are committed to keeping girls healthy and active in sports and delivering Power Hours on an event-by-event basis that gives each event the opportunity to have its own Presenting Partner to financially support the event. In 2019, each Power Hour will need a funding partner and a contribution of $1500 to make it a reality. If you’re interested in taking the next steps to get involved, please fill out the Power Hour request form.

Yes! Up to 100 complimentary tickets for participants are included.

We require 10 weeks to ensure that each Power Hour is as successful as possible. Event planning begins when we process partnership agreements and our standard timeline is that the Power Hour will take place no less than 10 weeks after the presenting partner has been confirmed. Our Event Coordinators need that time to work with Ambassadors to confirm their schedules, plan for empowering programming and fun, and of course, to promote the event by engaging with various community groups and teams to get girls registered. Our goal is quality. We want to make sure that every Power Hour is impactful and excellent!

Power Hours are designed to be shorter than our Champ Chats, and are focused on the leadership, confidence-boosting, and teamwork skills that are so valuable in sport participation and empowering girls. The Power Hour is a great option for after practice, during a tournament, or in another scenario where your girls may already be physically active that day. If you’re interested in giving participants the opportunity to get active and try a variety of sports, please check out our Champ Chat, Summit, and Girls Run event options!

Our Ambassadors generously volunteer their time and we are very understanding of their busy training and competition schedules (that’s why they’re so inspirational, right!?!). We are not able to guarantee that an Olympic or Paralympic Ambassador will be available to attend, but if you have an Ambassador in mind that you’d like to engage, we’re happy to try to make that work when we begin planning your event. Let’s work together on this. It’s important to the girls that the Ambassadors are local and relatable so we will work with you to recruit strong female role models from your community. While we agree that Olympians and Paralympians are SUPER inspirational, we also know that the biggest impact an Ambassador can have is a personal connection with a participant – this is how we change lives. We believe that stories of resilience, goal-setting, overcoming obstacles, and reaching for big dreams are inspirational no matter which Ambassador is telling them! We also encourage Ambassador recruitment from your community so that we can continue to build the cycles of leadership and network of female leaders.

Our programming and curriculum is developed with certain age groups in mind. For example, our Leadership Module (“The Leader Within All of Us”) is perfect for an older age group (13-18), whereas our Confidence Boosting Module (“Our Super Self Power”) is best for younger age groups (8-12). While our programming can be adapted for every age, we strongly suggest that your event target a specific age range that is as small as possible to ensure that participants fully engage in the workshop, make friends, and have fun with their peers. Our events team will help you choose the curriculum that’s right for your girls.
