Fast and Female Canada Team
Chandra Crawford, MBA
Chandra divides her time between Calgary and Canmore with her family including two toddlers, is the founder and CEO of Fast and Female, and is a 3x Olympian. As the founder of Fast and Female, she was a dedicated volunteer for 11 years before taking a leadership role with the organization in 2014. However, in her board capacity, she volunteers time to join the other members in providing oversight, performance management, and risk-assessment. During all of those volunteer years, it was the letters from parents and the enthusiasm from the girls and ambassadors that sustained her efforts in fundraising and developing programs for the now-charity.
Una Lounder is from Dartmouth, NS, and has been a Fast and Female Ambassador for over five years. She is thrilled to have joined the team as the Event Coordinator for Atlantic Canada and believes in the positive impact of sport and the important role it can play in a young girls’ life. Una raced for Team Canada in the sport of sprint kayak for over 10 years, attending 5 Senior World Championships, numerous World Cups and the Pan American Games. She thinks that active and healthy lifestyles come in all shapes and sizes, and in her spare time she loves to do yoga, garden, and walk around Lake Banook with her giant dog!
Gabriela (Gaby) Estrada
Gaby is a Toronto-born native, having grown up in Scarborough, ON. Her family is from Guatemala with Gaby being the first of three siblings born in Canada. Gaby has been a part of Fast and Female since 2017, first as an ambassador, then as an Event Coordinator, and now as the team’s Events and Research Manager. Beyond her involvement with Fast and Female, Gaby is very passionate about getting girls and women involved in sport, recreation and physical activity. She has worked in the sport and physical activity sector for over 10 years and is currently pursuing her Master’s in Exercise Science at the University of Toronto, with her research focused on racialized and marginalized female youth and the barriers that they face in accessing and participating in physical activity. Gaby is also a soccer coach, a sport facilitator and loves to stay active by playing soccer, ultimate frisbee, running, going to the gym and participating in mud runs. Gaby looks to work towards creating an inclusive, accessible, diverse and welcoming sport and physical activity environments for girls of all ages, ability and fitness levels.
Morgan grew up in Canmore, AB, cross-country skiing in the footsteps of her heroes, Chandra Crawford, Sara Renner, and Beckie Scott. Morgan attended her first F&F event as a participant in 2007, then transitioned to an ambassador and volunteer in 2012, finally joining the F&F team officially in 2019, making Morgan one of the longest standing F&F women, aside from Chandra. Since transitioning out of competitive skiing, Morgan now coaches cross-country skiing with her home club in Canmore, is a climbing instructor in Canmore, and is pursuing her Master’s degree in sport psychology at the University of Calgary. Morgan is passionate about using sport to change people’s lives, specifically to achieve gender equity in society; and does this through work at Fast and Female, the Nordiq Canada Women’s Committee, and her research at the University.
Maddy is from Ottawa ON, but currently lives in Halifax NS as an athlete training in her sprint kayak. Maddy trains full time as a high performance paddler, and was been a Fast and Female Ambassador for 3 years before joining their team. Nothing makes her happier than spending time outside playing: running, hiking, biking, cross country skiing, surfing, SUPing, and all other activities outside! She is hardly ever caught sitting still, unless it’s with a coffee or when she is working with Fast and Female! Movement and living a healthy life style run deep and she wants to share her passion for it, especially with girls, to show how enjoyable, empowering, and freeing it can be!
