I chose Alix because she is one of seven coaches that are a part of Track Attack, which is the ski program I ski with in my club, Foothills Nordic in Calgary (AB).
I wanted to interview her because she has coached me a lot and she’s a really fun coach and I thought she wouldn’t mind if I interviewed her for this article. I think Alix is a great role model because she is very mature and helpful to others around her.
Alix is 16 years old, she started cross-country skiing when she was 6 and started ski racing when she was about 11. Her first memory of skiing was when she was little, she went to the cookie race and when she finished the race she remembers getting a cool medal.
Her favorite sports are Cross-country skiing and Orienteering.
Alix has been to many Provincial ski races, as well as National races including Western and Easterns. She also competes Nationally for Orienteering. Alix’s favorite food before and after her races are, ”PASTA, PASTA AND MORE PASTA!”
When she was younger she really looked up to her coaches and said, “ I want to be like them and teach other children”, and she did. She has coached many different age groups, 5-6 year olds, 7-9 year olds, and 10-12 year olds and has been coaching for 3 years. She also coaches Orienteering.
Alix likes to coach because she likes to see the other athletes become better skiers, the coaching course she has taken are the introduction to community coaching and the community coaching courses.
Her favorite hobbies besides cross-country skiing are more cross-country skiing!
It is difficult for Alix to get her work done, she try’s as hard as she can to get everything done including High school work, ski training, orienteering, attending races, and coaching, with her friends filling in her spare time. I think it’s very impressive that Alix can fit all those things into a small amount of time and is able to accomplish all of them successfully.

My name is Megan and I am in Grade 6.
I live in Calgary, Alberta which is really close to the Rocky Mountains. The sports I like to do are cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, swimming, orienteering, mountain biking, and running. I do most of these sports with my family, to get out of the house and have fun!!!
I love to hike and cross-country ski because the mountains are beautiful and you see lots of wildlife while you are doing these activities.
